Sabarimala Ayyappa Seva Samajam (SASS), a pan India organization of Ayyappa devotees, has congratulated the 861 Brahmos Missile Regiment for selecting Ayyappa mantra-- 'Swamiye Saranam Ayyappa’ as their 'war cry.' In a statement issued by the organisation’s National General Secretary Erode N. Rajan said that the resolution passed by the committee congratulated the Indian Army for selecting this mantra which is at the heart of crores of Ayyappa devotees. He further said that this mantra is considered as the simplest of mantras, raising a common man to the highest level of God. Recently, the 861 Missile Regiment and its Brahmos missile systems had participated in the 73rd Indian Army Day, that was observed on January 15, where the sacred chants to Lord Ayyappa were first heard. The Brahmos regiment’s war cry is seen as a befitting tribute to Lord Ayyappa as the deity is symbolized to have defeated the evil forces by riding atop a horse holding a bow and arrow and returned riding on a wild tiger. It is an occasion for the world to know more about the history of a brave warrior, the God of Kaliyuga, and Ayyappa Dharma- “Tatwamasi “. The sacred chants of ‘Swamiye Saranam Ayyappa’ will reverberate on Raj Path in New Delhi on the occasion of the Republic Day parade. The 861 Brahmos regiment, one of India’s most lethal forces, will take part in the celebrations in the national capital, which is gearing up to chant the enthralling prayers to Lord Ayyappa. All devotees are eagerly waiting for this auspicious moment, jubilantly dancing to the tune of the song - Ayyappa Thinthakathom, Swami Thinthakathom'.
