Controversial Sabyasachi withdraws his ad, Home Minister gives 24-hour ultimatum

New Delhi: The mangalsutra advertisement of renowned fashion and jewellery designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee (Sabyasachi Mukherjee) was widely criticized across the country. Now, amid controversies, Sabyasachi on Sunday withdrew its ad saying it was "deeply saddened" by the pain caused by the advertisement to a section of the society.

It may be recalled that people on social media platforms had reacted sharply to the ad and some Bjp leaders also strongly criticised it. Earlier, Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra on Sunday granted 24 hours time to Sabyasachi to remove the 'objectionable and obscene' advertisement of Mangalsutra and warned that if he did not remove it within 24 hours, legal action would be taken against him by registering a case.

Sabyasachi then wrote on his Instagram account, 'In the backdrop of a constant discussion on heritage and culture, the Mangalsutra campaign was aimed at discussing inclusiveness and empowerment. The aim of this campaign was to celebrate and we are deeply saddened that it has hurt a section of our society. So we have decided to withdraw this campaign.'
