Sukhbir Badal Demands Punjab To Be Declared As ‘Principal Market Yard’

New Delhi: Even after the agriculture bill has been passed by both the Houses of Parliament, there is no political concern about it. Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), a coalition partner of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in power at the Centre, has demanded the Punjab government to declare the state as a principle market yard. Shiad President Sukhbir Singh Badal demanded CM Capt Amarinder Singh that the centre's new law on agricultural market will not be enforced if it is declared a major market yard for agricultural products.

Sukhbir Badal said that this is the best, fastest and most effective way for Punjab to stop the implementation of the new anti-agriculture law of the Centre in the state. The government should take this step without delay. He also said that if the captain does not do so, SAD will do it in the first cabinet meeting when it comes to power. The SAD chief said that if necessary, a special session of the Assembly may be convened through an ordinance or under section 7-A APMC.

Sukhbir Badal also informed the President of not signing the bills and said his response is still awaited. We will not allow the provisions of the bill to be implemented in Punjab, he added. Whatever price we have to pay for this. He also demanded the captain's government to repeal the amendments under the APMC Act and said that these are as dangerous as the dangerous bills brought to the farmers on behalf of the central government. These must be cancelled immediately.
