Lucknow: The Special MP-MLA Court of Uttar Pradesh's Shamli district has acquitted Samajwadi Party (SP) MLA Nahid Hasan from Kairana seat in a case related to the 2019 attempt to murder. Nahid Hasan's lawyer Rashid Ali Chauhan has informed that Special Judge Surendra Kumar has acquitted SP MLA Nahid Hasan and another accused named Haider Ali due to lack of evidence. Additional Government Advocate Satendra Dhiryan has informed that the sub-divisional officer of the Electricity Department, Nazim Ali, had filed a case, in which Nahid Hasan was accused that on July 11, 2019, he was going to an electricity sub-station located in Jhinjhana along with his colleagues, when on the way Nahid Hasan, Haider Ali and others forcibly stopped his vehicle and assaulted one of his companions with intent to kill him. The prosecution alleged that SP MLA Nahid Hasan was pressurizing some people to withdraw the case registered against them for power theft and the incident took place when they did not listen to him. In this case, a case was registered against Nahid Hasan, Haider Ali, and other accused on charges of attempt to murder, obstructing official work, and other charges. Please inform that, Nahid Hasan was arrested on 15 January 2022 in a case of the Gangster Act. He contested from the Kairana assembly seat and won from jail itself. Later, the Allahabad High Court granted conditional bail to Nahid Hasan. He was released from jail on 3 December 2022.
