Samantha and Sharwanand-starrer 96 goes on floor

The Telugu remake of Tamil blockbuster '96' was launched today in Hyderabad.  Sharwanand and Samantha Akkineni are the lead pair.  On the auspicious occasion of Ugadi, the pooja ceremony has been held in Dil Raju’s production office, thus making the project official. Speaking on the occasion, producer Dil Raju said, "The audience has always embraced the feel-good love stories that have come forth from our banner.  We hope that '96' too will be accepted by the audience.  C Prem Kumar, who directed the original, is wielding the megaphone."

The movie is remade of Vijay Sethupathi & Trisha Krishnan starrer ’96.’ Helmed on a shoe-string budget, the romantic-drama opened to a fabulous response from all quarters and enjoyed a glorious run at the ticket counters. Director Prem Kumar confirmed that the core plot of the script will remain the same, however, admitted that some minor changes will be done keeping the local sensibilities in mind. The film will go on the floors in the second half of April.  "It will be shot in Kenya for fifteen days.  Later, we will shoot it in Hyderabad and Vizag," the producer said. The entire shoot will be completed by the end of July. Music is by Govind Vasantha.  The cinematography is by J Mahendran.  Written by Mirchi Kiran, its art direction is by Ramanjaneyulu.  Editing is by Srikar Prasad.
