Birthday Special: Why did Sholay’s Thakur remained single throughout his life?

The world which is ready to do anything for having space at the glamour world we used to had a man who worked without any desire of such showcased monument. Sanjeev Kumar, the veteran actor of Indian cinema after his demise too lives in heart of the one who worships talent that he had. The actor marked his birth today only and the day have vital significance in everyone’s life as such a tremendous work never made a debut in the world after him.

Starting his career with a stage actor in IPTA, Mumbai he traveled a to success with movies like  Koshish, Dastak, Seeta Aur Geeta, Khilona, Pati, Patni Aur Woh, Angoor, Sholay, Trishul, Sangharsh and many more. Kumar was well known for his versatility and bona fide portrayal of his roles. The legend was not affable to the glamorous role and have contributed to many projects where he can be seen in roles beyond his age. The actor who died at the age of 47 has attained the feat of being elder in reel life only due to his congenital heart condition.

Single man throughout his life

The man who achieved almost everything with his talent didn’t get his first love. Kumar proposed Hema Malini in 1973 after which they remained in touch till his first heart attack in 1976. Post this he get involved with Sulakshana Pandit who regularly got paired up against him in movies like Uljhan, Waqt Ki Deewar. Unfortunately, they both spent their life single as Kumar denied to marry her due to which she took to exile in this matter.

After death also he was on the silver screen

His sudden death due to his heart attack on 6 November 1985 left the Indian cinema in grief. Posthumously, around 10 movies that have his contribution got released on silver screen.

His death cause director to change the storyline

His last movie Professor Ki Padosan that released in 1993 found itself hanging in midway due to actor’s sudden death. The move cause makers to change the storyline of the project so that they can avoid Kumar’s presence in the second half, the part which was on the floor without the fab actor.

Played a role without any dialogue

His debutant movie Hum Hindustani in 1960 has his small role where he portrayed a police constable who just stands next to witness box in a court. The role was without any dialogue and enough short that you must not have caught his presence in the movie. But Kumar didn’t deny after being a Guru kind of fame in stage show as he has belief in his talent which in real paid him.

The only actor who has auditorium named after him

Kumar has a long journey in Gujrati stage show from where his acting career gets started. On 14 February 2014, current PM and then CM of Gujarat has inaugurated an auditorium named Sanjeev Kumar Auditorium in Surat, Gujarat to honor the legend of not only that state but of the whole nation.

We salute such a personality whose success never went over his head and who remains so down to earth throughout his life even after such an acclaimed career.
