Bangalore: Harish Bangera, a resident of the Udupi district of Karnataka, has finally returned home on Wednesday (August 18, 2021). Bangera, an AC mechanic by profession, was jailed for 604 days in Saudi Arabia for falsely making controversial remarks about Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and the Islamic pilgrimage site Mecca. Two brothers Abdul Huyez and Abdul Thuyez made the comments by creating fake accounts on Facebook in the name of Harish. Talking to the media, Bangera said that he had posted on his Facebook account in Saudi Arabia in support of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) enacted by the Government of India and the National Citizenship Register (NRC), after which he was criticized, after which he deleted the post and deleted his Facebook account, But at the same time, a Facebook account created in his name made controversial remarks about Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in Saudi Arabia and the Islamic pilgrimage site mecca. Harish was arrested on December 22, 2019, following these comments. On December 21, 2019, an account run by Harish Bangera made controversial remarks against Islam and the Prince of Saudi Arabia. In one such post, a picture of Mecca was uploaded and captioned as "Next Ram Temple will be in Mecca. Get ready for the fight.'' At the same time, the photo was also posted. As soon as the post went viral, a case was registered against Harish in immediate action and the Saudi Arabian Police arrested Harish within hours. Harish's wife also lodged a complaint at Udupi police station fearing Harish's innocence and conspiracy against him. Later, an inquiry into the matter revealed that Abdul Huyez and Abdul Thuyez created a fake account in Harish's name on Facebook on December 19, 2019, and posted that from the account two days later. The police also traced the mobile phone which was used to create fake accounts. The phone was registered in the name of Abdul Thuyez. Police arrested the two brothers, residents of Mudabidri, in October 2020 after investigation. Police said the Abdul brothers had done all this with the aim of revenge as Bangera supported CAA and NRC.
