The recent malware security breach that harmed the data of many banks has already caused of defamation to reputation of those institutions. Over 6 lakh customers of State Bank of India (SBI) suffered the malware breach. The bank has promised to provide those customers fresh debit cards as soon as the bank moved swiftly to contain the damage of the data breach. It will be the biggest data replacement exercise in the history of Indian banking. About 6.29 lakhs cards are to be replaced and some are dispatched already. "A total of 95.5% of the total blocked cards were dispatched by October 26. For the rest, we are trying to get their addresses and contact details because they failed to update their info with the respective branch," said, Manju Agarwal, deputy Managing Director, Corporate Strategy & New Business, SBI. "Such customers can also approach the branch to get their details updated and get a new card," she added.
