The FSSAI has made certain certificates compulsory for bottled water and mineral water manufacturers, which will not be allowed for sale if they are not with the certificate-seller. According to the information received, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has made the certification of BIS (BIS) mandatory for bottled water and mineral water manufacturers for obtaining license or registration. The FSSI has given this instruction in a letter to the Food Safety Commissioners of all states and union territories. This directive will come into effect from April 1, 2021. The FSSI stated that under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2008, it would be mandatory for all food business operators (FBOs) to obtain a license/registration before starting any food business. The regulator said that under the Food Safety and Standards (Restrictions and Restrictions on Sales) Regulations, 2011, anyone can sell bottled drinking water or mineral water only after the BIS certification mark.
BIS certification mark now mandatory: FSSI said that many companies producing packaged drinking water and mineral water are working on the license of FSSI. But they do not have a BIS certification mark. In view of this, the BIS license or application has been made mandatory for the license of FSSI.
