Sensex, Nifty End Nearly Flat, Stocks to buy today

Indian stocks remained range-bound below the flat line on Wednesday due to a lack of local triggers.  The NSE  Nifty50 ended the day at 17,535, up 10 points or 0.06 percent, while the BSE Sensex closed 36 points, or 0.06 percent, lower at 58,817.

The top large-cap gainers in terms of percentage increases ranged from 1.5% to 4.5% are namely Hindalco, UPL, Apollo Hospitals, Coal India, Tata Steel, Tata Motors, and Bharti Airtel.  On the downside, Bajaj Finance, ONGC, Asian Paints, HCL Tech, Wipro, Adani Ports, and SBI all fell by more than 1 percent.

In the broader markets, the BSE MidCap and SmallCap indices declined 0.15 percent each on the back of losses in Natco Pharma, Oil India, MRF, YES Bank, Dynemic Products, Everest Kanto Cylinders, and Sequent Scientific. The Nifty IT index slipped 0.9% while the Nifty Metal index advanced 1.6% among industries.

International Markets: World stocks were mixed on Wednesday as global investors await key US inflation data. In Europe, the pan-European Stoxx 600 slipped 0.2 percent in early trade, while futures linked to main Wall Street indices gained between 0.2 percent and 0.3 percent on Wall Street. In Asia, Japan's Nikkei dipped 0.6 percent, and South Korea's Kospi eased 0.9 percent. Hong Kong's Hang Seng, meanwhile, shed nearly 2 percent.
