Sensex, Nifty fall over 1 pc, Stock to buy today

Market Closing Updates: Following a week of gains, equity indexes declined on the week-ended Friday. The BSE Sensex and the NSE Nifty each lost more than 1% due to profit-taking and negative global market trends.

After a strong start to the day, the 30-share BSE Sensex eventually gave up all of its gains and finished 651.85 points or 1.08% lower at 59,646.15. It fell by 823.43 points or 1.36% throughout the day to 59,474.57. The NSE Nifty index as a whole dropped 198.05 points, or 1.10%, to finish at 17,758.45.

A few of the Sensex pack's largest losers included IndusInd Bank, Bajaj Finserv, Bajaj Finance, Tata Steel, State Bank of India, Maruti, NTPC, Hindustan Unilever, and Reliance Industries. On the other hand, Tata Consultancy Services, Infosys, and Larsen & Toubro were among the top gainers.

International Markets: Asia's markets saw lower closing prices in Seoul, Shanghai, and Tokyo, while Hong Kong closed in the green. During mid-session deals, stock markets in Europe were primarily trading lower. Wall Street had ended higher on Thursday.

Brent crude, the international standard for crude oil, was down 1.38 percent at USD 95.25 a barrel. As per stock exchange data, Foreign Institutional Investors turned net sellers after many days, offloading shares worth Rs.1706 crore on Thursday.
