Serum Institute of India Chairman Cyrus Poonawalla suffered a heart attack, and is getting Angioplasty treatment in Pune The 82-year-old, also the Chairman and Managing Director of the renowned biotech firm Serum Institute , encountered a mild cardiac arrest last Thursday. Dr. Purvez Grant, reportedly, confirmed the successful angioplasty procedure and informed that Dr. Poonawalla's condition was now stable. "We have completed the angioplasty, and he is currently in a stable state. He is expected to be discharged within a couple of days," remarked Dr. Grant. Currently under intensive care, Dr. Poonawalla is displaying positive responses to the treatment regimen, according to Dr. C N Makhale, an interventional cardiologist overseeing his care at the Cath Lab. "His recovery progress is promising," added Ali Daruwala, an advisor at Ruby Hall Clinic. The angioplasty procedure was conducted under the guidance of a team including Dr. Purvez Grant, Dr. C N Makhale, and Dr. Abhijeet Khadtare. Dr. Cyrus Poonawalla is renowned for establishing SII in 1966, aiming to manufacture vital immuno-biologicals within India.
