Setting up Internal Complaints Committee for Malayalam film industry: Kerala WC

kOCHIl The Kerala Women's Commission (WC) has told the Kerala High Court that it has asked the state government to set up an Internal Complaints Committee for the Malayalam film industry and enact legislation for the benefit of both employers and employees.

The Commission informed the court that it had done so in accordance with the Vishaka guidelines as well as the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition, and Redressal) Act, 2013.

The commission made the announcement while filing an application to join itself as an extra respondent in a previous complaint filed by Women in Cinema Collective (WCC). The court granted the application and set a date for the case's hearing on February 14.

WCC filed the case in 2018, requesting that the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) form an Internal Complaints Committee to deal with sexual assault. This occurred in the aftermath of the 2017 Actress Assault Case.
