Ranchi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Dhulu Mahato has got relief from the apex court from Baghmara in Jharkhand. The Supreme Court on Wednesday rejected the plea of Jharkhand High Court for cancellation of bail granted to Dhulu Mahato in a sexual abuse case. A woman leader had filed a petition in the apex court for cancellation of bail. The woman had said in her petition that MLA Dhulu Mahato has influence in Baghmara region. There are more than 35 cases registered against them, but in most of the cases they are acquitted or the testimony in those cases is not being recorded. In such a case, a fair trial in a sexual abuse case is not likely. MLA is out of jail and he can influence witnesses and evidence in this case. It took one year to register an FIR in this case. His bail should be cancelled. A leader of Katras has accused MLA Dhulu Mahato of sexual exploitation. On the directions of the High Court, an FIR was lodged against him a year after the incident and he had to go to jail. Subsequently, the Jharkhand High Court granted him bail in July 2020. Against this, the victim filed SLP in the top court.
