Bollywood’s superstar, the Badshah Shah Rukh Khan is reportedly moving out of Mannat, the iconic residence with his family. They will be staying in a luxurious apartment in Pali hill, Bandra for about two years as their sea facing home will go through extensive renovations. This includes entire refurbishment, along with an addition of two floors to the Mannat annexe.
Shah Rukh Khan and his wife Gauri Khan’s production company Red Chillies Entertainment has entered into a leave and license agreement with film producer Vashu Bhagnani’s children Jackky Bhagnani and Deepshikha Deshmukh, for four floors in the luxury residential complex Puja Casa. As reported, the monthly rent of the property is charged around Rs.24 lakh.
Shah Rukh Khan had acquired Mannat in the year 2001. It symbolizes the actor’s aspirations and successes over the years, coming from nowhere to now ruling Bollywood, rather the world. The net worth of Shah Rukh Khan staggers around Rs.7,300 crore as per Hurun rich list 2024. Mannat is not only the actor’s home, but is also a major tourist attraction in Mumbai for visitors and his fans alike. His wife, Gauri Khan who is an interior designer by profession has played a major role in designing the interiors of the lavish mansion. The six-storey mansion has huge classical pillars with a view of the serene Arabian sea. Mannat has a value of Rs.200 crore at present, making it the most expensive celebrity homes in India. Even though, the family shifted to Mannat in 2001, it took Gauri Khan nearly a decade to design the interiors of their home.
Mannat, being a Grade 2-B heritage structure built in 1914, any kind of structural alterations require a prior approval from the Court as it has a historical, cultural and architectural significance to it. It is said that the actor has already obtained it. Earlier, it was a Grade III heritage structure, in 2006 the property was upgraded to a Grade 2-B structure. After the court’s approval, the couple sought permission from the Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority for the expansion of Mannat Annexe’s two floors, which will grow it up to 616.02 m. Considering the fact that the property is close to the sea and the height of the property will increase, further any kind of development has to be carried out in a sustainable way. Thus, a clearance from MCZMA is necessary. They had applied for it on November 9, 2024. The renovations are said to start in a few months, adding a seventh and an eighth floor to Mannat.
