Shahjahanpur: Five people have been killed when a truck collided with a train in Shahjahanpur district of Uttar Pradesh. The case took place this morning when five persons were killed in a train collision with vehicles leaving Shahjahanpur district due to open railway crossing gate. Superintendent of Police (Rural) Sanjeev Bajpai informed the media that when the Chandigarh Express train reached ahead of Miranpur Katra railway station in the morning, it hit several trains at the crossing after which the train derailed. He said at least five people have lost their lives in the incident. One injured person has been sent to a medical college in the accident. The train has hit two trucks, a car and a bike. Some more bodies are likely to be recovered. Bajpai said that investigations are on to assay how the accident took place and whether the signal for closure of gates was found at the railway crossing. Relief and rescue operations were going on till the time of reporting. Police and administrative officials are present at the spot. Eyewitnesses of the incident said that the dcm and a bike full of coldring were crossing the railway line due to the opening of the gate when they were hit by the train. Both the vehicles were blown away. The engine of the train was also damaged and traffic was disrupted in the accident. The incident took place at NH-24 Hulas Nagara railway gate, which is part of Katra police station area. Sources said the incident was due to negligence of gateman. The gateman had forgotten to close the gate of the crossing.
