Shavna will be the third Indian woman to fly into space

Mumbai: Dr. Shavna Pandya works as a neurosurgeon in Alberta University Hospital of Canada. Along with her work, Shavna is preparing for Astronaut Mission, she would be the third woman to fly into space after Sunita Williams and Kalpana Chawla.

The 32-year-old surgeon is one of the two people, who are selected by the Citizen Science Astronaut (CSA) out of 3,200 people. These candidates will be the part of 2018 Space Mission, which includes nearly 8 candidates.

At present Shavna's family reside at Mumbai, Pandya told that being an astronaut was her childhood dream but, she was more passionate about her career in medical field.
