Shocking: Andhra technician kills wife, stuffs body in bag, dumps in lake

TIRUPATI: In the city of Tirupati, a techie brutally killed his wife, packed her body in a suitcase, and dumped it in a lake. The shocking details were revealed on Tuesday, nearly five months after the atrocity was perpetrated. Padma's body was discovered in a lake near Venkatapuram, on the outskirts of town, by police.

Venugopal, a software engineer currently employed with a firm in Hyderabad, has been arrested, according to police. The technician had been deceiving his in-laws by claiming Padma was in Hyderabad with him. Padma's parents became concerned after she did not speak to them over the phone for over five months and filed a missing person report with the police.

Venugopal confessed to killing Padma on January 5, the same day he took her home from her parents' house, where she had been residing for two years owing to a marital conflict, during the interrogation. Padma's parents were told by Venugopal, who had even filed a divorce petition in court, that he wanted to take her home and forget about the past. He then told them that he had taken her to Hyderabad and that they were now living together.
