In yet another shocking incident a woman in Karnataka’s Mangaluru threw her 11-days old baby boy into the well. The woman was arrested and she told the police that the reason for her doing so was that she disliked boys and was hoping to give birth to a baby girl and therefore she killed her 11 day old boy.
Police of Dakshina Kannada said, They have booked the woman on charges of killing her baby boy. The accused has been identified as Parvati who is in her twenties and has been booked under IPC section 302(Punishment for murder),
The incident comes to the light when Parvati's sister-in-law lodged a complaint with them in this regard. She told the police that the incident happened at Bastikaadu house of Kootkunja village of Sullia. Her sister in Law told the police that Parvati had been married to a man from Bengaluru some four years ago but divorced him and married another man Manikanta from Sira in Tumakuru about a year ago.
She further told that since Parvati wasn't keeping good health, she left Manikanta after staying with him for two months and moved back to her mother's house. She was also reportedly pregnant during the time and kept saying that she hoped to deliver a baby girl as she disliked boys who she said did not take care of their parents.
On October 19, Parvati was admitted to Lady Goschen hospital in Mangaluru about a month ago where she gave birth to a baby boy. She was apparently very upset with this and she refused to breastfeed her baby properly. SP Rishikesh Sonawane said that the complainant said that Parvati kept saying that she did not want this baby.
On Saturday morning she went back to her room and slept. Around 3.15 pm she came out of the room holding the baby in her arms and again told her sister-in-law that she did not want the baby and then walked up to the well located in front of the house and threw it in it. She rushed back to her room after throwing the baby. Her sister in law immediately called her husband who along with some people pulled the baby out of the well and rushed him to the hospital where the doctors declared the baby dead on arrival. A case has been registered against the women.
