Kolkata: West Bengal BJP leader and leader of opposition in the Assembly Suvendu Adhikari has approached the Calcutta High Court in the tarpaulin theft case. The high court will hear the case on June 22. The Suvendu's officer has demanded quashing of the FIR lodged against him in the tarpaulin theft case. However, the officer could not get initial relief. The court has just refused to give any interim order at this stage. The court will now hear the matter on June 22 after a week. An FIR was lodged against BJP MLA Suvendu Adhikari and his brother Soumendu Adhikari from Nandigram earlier this month. TMC has accused the duo of stealing relief material. The FIR against the officer brothers has been registered at Kontai police station in East Midnapore district. A written complaint in this regard was lodged by Ratnadeep Manna, a member of the Board of Administrators of The Kontai Municipality on June 1. TMC alleged that on May 29, two men, Himangshu Manna and Pratap Dey, had taken a tarpaulin truck from a municipal godown. He alleged that Suvendu Adhikari and Soumendu Adhikari were behind it. He also alleged that the entire incident was carried out with the help of central security forces.
