MUMBAI: A signal problem near Diva station caused delays of 12 to 15 minutes on the Central line of Mumbai's local trains on Tuesday (February 4) morning. The issue was seen around 6-am, which caused disruption in train services. However, Central Railway officials said that the problem was fixed by 6-am, and train operations became normal. Notably in special, Indian Railways is celebrating 100 years of electrification on February 3. This marks the beginning of a greener rail system, with the first electric-train running between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus & Kurla in Mumbai on February 3, 1925. Electrification began 72 years after India’s first train service launched on April 16, 1853. Central Railway has now completed 100 percent electrification and is holding celebrations, including a run, seminars, and 3-D shows, starting on February 3. The railways are also planning sessions with school-children to educate them about the history and heritage of the rail system. The fog also impacted train services, making it harder for train drivers to navigate safely. Further, Chennai will experience a planned power outage on Tuesday, affecting several areas, including Sai Nagar, Kaliamman Koil Street, and others.
