First death from Corona recorded in this state of the country, 74-year-old elderly man dies

Gangtok: An elderly man died after being hit by a coronavirus infection at a government hospital in Gangtok district of Sikkim on Sunday. This is the first case of death from this epidemic in the state. A senior health officer has given information in this regard. The officer has said that the 74-year-old elderly man who died due to coronavirus was from Rongli sub-division of East Sikkim district.

Giving information, Director-General-cum-Secretary (Health) Dr. Pema T. Bhutia has told that the elderly died early today due to covid-19. He said that the man was admitted to the Sir Thutob Namgyal Memorial (STNM) hospital on Saturday night after being found coronavirus positive. When the patient's condition worsened, he was shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), where he died.

The official said that he was also suffering from diabetes and high blood pressure. CM Prem Singh Tamang said that he is deeply saddened by the death of the patient with Corona virus. He asked the people of the state to follow the guidelines issued to prevent the spread of corona virus. According to official figures, 357 patients of covid-19 were undergoing treatment in Sikkim till Saturday.
