KHARTOUM: Six protestors were reportedly killed during demonstrations that occured in the capital Khartoum and other cities, Sudan Police said. 96 police officers and 129 soldiers from the Sudanese Armed Forces were injured during the protests on Thursday, as per police statement released late on Friday, according to Xinhua. The demonstrators were charged by the police with attacking regular forces, targeting key areas, and causing vehicle damage. A non-government organisation called the Central Committee of Sudanese Doctors said that nine demonstrators were killed on Thursday. After the general commander of the Sudanese Armed Forces, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, conducted a coup on October 25, 2021, and overthrew the Sovereign Council and the government, Sudan has been experiencing a political crisis. Since then, protests calling for a return to civilian government have been ongoing in the capital and other cities.
