Sales rose 12.73 per cent in November due to festive season

New Delhi: Auto sector, SIAM said that wholesale sales of domestic passenger vehicles rose by 12.73 per cent to 2,85,367 units in November on Friday due to festive demand, up from 2,53,139 units in the same period a year ago. According to the latest data from the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), sales of two-wheelers grew by 13.43 per cent to 16,00,379 units in November 2020. In the same period a year ago, the number was 14,10,939 units.

Bike sales rose 14.9 per cent to 10,26,705 units, while scooter sales grew by 9.29 per cent. In November last year, scooter sales were 4,59,851 units, which increased to 5,02,561 units in the month under review. However, sales of three-wheelers declined by 57.64 per cent to 23,626 units, registering 55,778 units in November 2019. "The festive season has brought back enthusiasm in certain areas, but the further performance of the business will depend on the overall economic scenario," said Rajesh Menon, director, SIAM.

Besides Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Tata Motors, Kia Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra cars have also sold out in November. Sales of carmakers like Raghann, Ford, Nissan, Volkswagen and Skoda have registered a decline.
