On the eve of Republic Day on opposition to the law, Sonia said, 'It is the duty of every citizen to work towards protecting the Constitution and strengthening the unity of the country. Efforts are being made to divide people in the name of religion, regionalism and language. An unprecedented atmosphere of unrest, fear and insecurity has been created in the country. The common man has started thinking that constitutional values are no longer safe in the hands of the present government.

President Ram Nath Kovind has given advice to the people of the country, especially the youth, on the occasion of the 71st Republic Day amidst the controversy over the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). In his address to the nation on the eve of Republic Day, the President said that it is necessary to walk the path of non-violence in the movement over any issue. He clarified that no goal is ever achieved by violence.
