NEW DELHI: Sonia Gandhi is set to participate in the upcoming INDIA alliance conference in Mumbai. Nana Patole, the president of the Maharashtra unit of the Congress party, announced on Monday that the event will also mark the introduction of the opposition coalition's emblem. Distinguished leaders from the anti-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) alliance, which encompasses over twenty political parties, will convene at a prestigious hotel in suburban Mumbai on August 31st and September 1st. This gathering will represent their third meeting since uniting on a shared platform for the first time in June in Patna. Addressing the press, Patole stated, "Sonia Gandhi will be in attendance at the INDIA alliance assembly in Mumbai." He revealed that the official logo of the alliance will be revealed during this event, which will also serve as a platform for opposition leaders to deliberate on their agenda leading up to the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The initial assembly of this bloc took place in Patna in June, and its subsequent meeting in Bangalore in July led to the finalization of its name: Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA). The primary objective behind the formation of this coalition is to collectively challenge the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the upcoming 2024 parliamentary elections.
