Sonu Nigam: 'National Anthem is prestigious and sensitive thing,should not play in restaurants and movies theaters'

Playing national anthem in movie theatres becomes a hot topic now singer Sonu Nigam today said that while he respects every country's national anthem he also said that theatres and restaurants are not the right places for it to sing. Moreover, Sonu said the national anthem of any country should be respected and be given the same honour that people respect on their own anthem. Sonu Nigam mentioned "If the national anthem of Pakistan is played and all Pakistanis are standing, I will also stand out of respect for that country and those people," he added.

The singer has the perception that playing or singing the national anthem in places like movies, restaurants are not good. He assumes that the national anthem is very prestigious and sensitive topic and he thinks it should not be played in certain places. On Monday, the Supreme court declared that the Centre to decide on the playing of the anthem in public places, including cinema halls. The singer, who has often walked into controversies, drew a parallel between the anthem and one's parents. Moreover, the playback singer, however, said if the national anthem is played in theatres, there should be "no ego" in standing up.
