Soorma critic reviews: The story of champion who turned out to be a legend

After Sanju not only the fans and curious audience but critics also have an eye on the newly released biopic Soorma. On one hand where the former is leading to Rs 300 crore club everyone have a gaze upon the later that it can fetch the audience towards it or not. After a week the Sandeep Singh’s biopic is termed as the biggest competition which hit the silver screen.

The Diljit Dosanjh and Taapsee Pannu starrer covers total of 1435 plus screens where over 1100 are of the player’s nation and 335 screens fetching overseas audience. The comeback story of the legend who turns history of Indian hockey in its first half totally focused on his childhood days where the nine year old boy fetch himself away from the game due to his coach but fortunately a girl who later became his wife changed his life and bring him back to the game. The movie reached to the interval with a tragic turn where the player received a injury due to a gunshot which left him paralyzed down-waist.

On acting front the lead role has not left any corner to hit as the portrayal clearly showing that he truly captured the depth of his role which emerged as a biggest positive point for the movie. The ‘Pink’ girl is usually played her best which gave a well finished touch to the biopic. Angad Bedi as Bikramjeet Singh was like Vicky Kaushal in Sanju. He played the very supporting brother of Sandeep Singh and the act is so real that no flaws can be found. Kulbhushan Kharbanda and Satish Kaushik also remain in good form throughout the movie.

Shaad Ali, the name who helmed the movie captured the real essence of Arjuna Award recipient’s journey and without much melodrama the movie can be termed as a great motivation and inspiration to the audience which can thrash others to the theatres. The movie will also teach you the importance of family and patriotism.

Times of India rated the movie with three and half points. The trade analyst also termed the movie as “heartwarming” and went ahead with the same points. He tweeted: “#OneWordReview... #Soorma: HEARTWARMING…. #Soorma brings to screen one of the greatest comeback stories of a sportsman: hockey legend Sandeep Singh... A brave and inspiring story of will, determination, optimism and passion...Well-directed by Shaad Ali.”

 

 

Let’s see who win the race on box office, Sanju or Soorma. Might be possible that the third player ‘Antman and the Wasp’ took away the trophy.
