SEOUL: During a virtual session hosted by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Tuesday, South Korea reaffirmed its commitment to comprehensive vaccine support for Asia's developing countries, according to Seoul's foreign ministry. Choi Jong-moon, the second vice foreign minister, gave the statement at the Covid-19 Global Action Meeting the day before, according to reports. Choi stated that South Korea will provide a "support package" that includes vaccination supply, cold chains, and storage logistics to assist those countries in improving their health care infrastructure. He also stated that Seoul intends to engage with the World Health Organization to train local health care staff for relevant projects. The meeting brought together top diplomats and other senior leaders from 16 countries and international organisations to discuss the urgent efforts required by the global community to vaccine 70% of the world's population against the coronavirus by mid-2022.
