Award-winning South Korean movie director Kim Ki-duk passed away after coronavirus complications in Latvia on Friday. He was 59 years old. According to The Korean Herald, Kim Ki-duk had arrived in Latvia last month and was reportedly living with the help of Latvian film industry figures in the country. He had recently been hospitalized when he showed symptoms of coronavirus, but on Friday he succumbed to the disease. Kim Ki-duk made his debut in 1996 with the movie "Crocodile,". He is the only South Korean director to win at all three major European film festivals: Cannes, Berlin and the Golden Lion at the 2012 Venice Film Festival for his movie ''Pieta''. He was best known for films such as Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter... and Spring, Moebius, 3-Iron and Amen among others. In 2017, he was accused of sexually assaulting actresses and since then the legendary director had shunned public appearances in his own country. However, the police case into the main accusation was dropped the following year and Kim had tried to sue his accusers for damages, which was unsuccessful. Since those accusations surfaced Kim had filmed one movie in Kazakhstan.
