SpiceJet introduces 60 new domestic flights this summer

New Delhi: SpiceJet said on Monday that 60 new domestic flights will be launched this summer. Summer classes begin on March 27 and end on October 29. In a statement, the airline claimed that in the summer schedule, it will debut eight industry-first flights on the Gorakhpur-Kanpur, Gorakhpur Varanasi, Jaipur–Dharamshala, and Tirupati–Shirdi sectors.

"The airline has introduced 60 new domestic flights to its schedule, including seven UDAN flights, eight industry-first flights, new connections, and increased frequencies," according to the statement.

The UDAN scheme provides financial incentives to chosen airlines from the federal government, state governments, and airport operators in order to stimulate operations from unserved and underserved airports while keeping airfares reasonable.

The aviation regulator DGCA announced last Friday that Indian carriers have boosted their domestic services by 10.1 percent to 25,309 weekly flights in the upcoming summer schedule, up from 22,980 previous season.
