Airline conglomerate SpiceJet said it has started offering a doorstep, pre-travel COVID-19 testing service to its passengers. As part of it, a healthcare worker will visit the passenger at his or her home and collect the sample well in advance of the flight. The test result will be ready in time for the flight, and can be used for the same. Many countries require a No COVID-19 certificate for air travellers. Passengers can also give their test sample in chosen collections spots or laboratories. As for now, the service is available in India and the UAE, and is being offered in tie-up with VFS Global. The test can be booked by visiting the ‘Add-ons’ section of SpiceJet’s website. The test reports will be sent by the associated laboratory to the registered email address of the persons within 24 to 60 hours, the SpiceJet said. Domestic customers can submit their sample either at a location of choice using the ‘At your Doorstep’ option or visit an associated ICMR approved lab Mumbai, Delhi, Cochin, Kolkata Hyderabad, Bangalore , Chennai, Chandigarh, Ahmedabad, Jalandhar and Pune. SpiceJet said test fees will be according the regulated prices set by local government bodies and same rates will apply for children and adults. Passengers travelling from UAE can may submit their test samples at the partner labs in Ajman, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, or Sharjah, or at a location of choice within the UAE.
