PM Modi and Amit Shah pay tribute to freedom fighters on 79th anniversary of Quit India Movement

New Delhi: The Quit India Movement, popularly known as the August Kranti, which has flowed public consciousness across the country against the brutality of English rule, is celebrating its 79th anniversary today. Union Home Minister Amit Shah and PM Modi paid humble tributes to the great freedom fighters who participated in the movement. You can see Amit Shah in a tweet in the caption, "On this day in 1942, Mahatma Gandhi ji launched the Quit India Movement with the slogan 'Do or Die.' It was not just a movement against the ruthlessness of English rule, but a massive people's revolution for freedom that forced the British to leave India.''

At the same time, Amit Shah further wrote, "The history of the August Revolution is full of heroic stories of innumerable anonymous warriors, which will always inspire generations to come. Today, on the 79th anniversary of the Quit India Movement, I salute the immortal freedom fighters who laid down their lives in this mahayagya of freedom."

Apart from him, PM Narendra Modi has also paid homage to the fighters who participated in the freedom struggle. He captioned it on his Twitter as "Tributes to the great people who participated in the Quit India Movement, who played an important role in strengthening the fight against colonialism and the spirit of quit India movement was echoed all over India under the inspiration of Mahatma Gandhi, which had instilled enthusiasm among the youth of our country."
