Spiritual guru Siddheshwar Swami passed away, K'taka CM expressed grief

Saint Siddheshwar Swami of Jnanyogashram passed away on Monday. The 81-year-old saint, known for his scholarship and articulate orator, had been battling age-related problems for some time now. Announcing the death of the saint, popularly known as the 'Walking God' among his followers, Vijayapura Deputy Commissioner Vijay Mahantesh Dhanmanawa said he had also breathed his last at the ashram on Monday.

According to the notification issued by the Karnataka government, the government has decided to perform the last rites of Siddheshwara Swami with state honors. His last rites are scheduled to be performed around 5 pm on Tuesday, according to an official statement. Other leaders, including PM Narendra Modi, have also condoled his death. Swamiji came into the limelight five years ago after he rejected the Padma Shri award. He has also given information in this regard by writing a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has also expressed grief over Swamiji's demise. He tweeted and wrote, ''It is very sad to hear the news of the demise of Saint Shri Siddheshwar Swamiji of Gyan Yogashram, Vijaypur. He is also trying for the salvation of mankind through his discourses. His services have been excellent and unparalleled. Swamiji's passing is an irreparable loss. I pray for the peace of his soul. May God give strength to his devotees across the country to bear this sorrow.''
