New Delhi: The general budget was announced by the central government on February 1. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the budget in Parliament and announced crores of rupees for many sectors. If we look at the budget of the Sports Ministry, this time there is a bumper increase in the sports budget. The central government has given a budget of Rs 3,389 crore for the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, which is much more than the budget of the previous year. 

In the budget of the year 2022-23, Rs 2,671 crore was given for the Ministry of Youth-Sports, whereas in the budget of the year 2023-24, an allocation of Rs 3,389 crore has been given. The budget of Khelo India has been increased by Rs 400 crore by the Modi government, now its budget has been increased to Rs 1000 crore. Rs 15 crore has been allocated for the promotion of sports in Jammu and Kashmir. The central government has allocated Rs 107 crore for the National Sports University. The budget for assistance to National Sports Federations has now been abolished, last year Rs 280 crore was given for it.

The same Sitharaman has also announced relief in customs duty on the import of some parts and inputs like camera lenses. He has also said that the concessional duty on lithium-ion cells for batteries is going to continue for the next one year. On toys, cycles, and automobiles, the Finance Minister has said, "I propose to reduce the basic custom duty rates on goods other than textiles and agriculture from 21 to 13.''
