Sports Minister gave this statement on the demand for inclusion of Kabaddi in Olympic

New Delhi: Kabaddi is one of the most popular sports in India. There has been a demand for it to be included in the Olympics for a long time. On this, Union Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju has given a big statement. Rijiju said that the government would do its best to include kabaddi in the Olympic Games to be held in Paris in 2024. Rijiju said that "kabaddi is a perfect example of how rural level sports progress successfully".

"This seems to be the beginning of the sports culture that we had envisioned for India and which is now becoming a reality". He told Star Sports that "for Kabaddi to be a part of the next Olympics, we will do everything possible on our behalf. I am convinced of this". Kiren Rijiju did not explain how this would be possible, as incorporating a new sport into the Olympics is a long and complicated process.

First of all, the game should get recognition from the International Olympic Committee (IOC). After this, its governing body will have to seek the recognition of the International Federation from the IOC. The federation will then apply for inclusion as an Olympic sport.
