Srikanth advances to second round of Japan Open

In the  Japan, Open Super Series match on Wednesday the Indian player  Kidambi Srikanth registered a victory over China's Tian Houwei in Tokyo by  21-15, 12-21, 21-11 in a match that lasted for 66 minutes.

In the opening round matches, the players  Sourabh Verma and Sai Praneeth faced defeats in their individual matches which led to the closure of their further journey in the tournament. Verma faced defeat in front of Lin Dan of China by 21-11, 15-21, 13-21 While Lee Dong-Keun of South Korea beat Praneeth by 21-23, 21-17, 21-18.

In the mixed doubles event, the Indian duo of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Ashwani Ponnappa defeated Tinn Isriyanet and Chochuwong of Thailand 21-17, 21-13 in just 35 minutes to enter the second round.
