Lucknow: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo and former Uttar Pradesh CM Mayawati have expressed concern over deaths from poisonous liquor in the state and have also demanded strict action against the guilty officers for solving the problem. Mayawati said on Tuesday that incidents of poor deaths and devastation of families due to drinking of poisonous liquor are happening continuously in Uttar Pradesh, which is very sad. She has said that even after the death of many people in the recent incident of Prayagraj, the government action is right. But to solve this problem, strict action should be taken against the guilty officers. There have been cases of deaths due to illegal, poisonous liquor in the state for the last few times. The opposition is engaged in besieging the government on the recent deaths in Phulpur of Prayagraj. Samajwadi Party chief and former CM Akhilesh Yadav has alleged that the black trade of illegal liquor is running at double speed in the protection of power. The spirits of the liquor mafia have increased so much that they are openly smuggling and selling illicit liquor, defying the government rules and regulations. He said that smuggling of alcohol, making and selling poisonous liquor is being done illegally in the knowledge of Police and Excise Department.
