The son of the Ponni) is an upcoming Indian Tamil-language historical drama film written, directed and co-produced by Mani Ratnam, under his production studio Madras Talkies, along with Allirajah Subaskaran under the banner Lyca Productions. The film was co-written by Ratnam along with Elango Kumaravel and B. Jeyamohan. It stars Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha and Jayaram in prominent roles, while Prabhu, Vikram Prabhu, Aishwarya Lekshmi, and Sobhita Dhulipala appear in supporting roles. The film is one of the most anticipated Tamil films and this is said to be a dream project of the director. The epic film, which is a historical drama, has several top stars from the Indian film industry. And the actors have been trained in special techniques like horse riding and sword fighting to get into the skin of their characters in the film. The film's music is being composed by A. R. Rahman, with cinematography handled by Ravi Varman, and editing done by A. Sreekar Prasad. It is an adaptation of Kalki Krishnamurthy's 1955 novel of the same name.
