Former Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan (Tai), who has been MP for eight consecutive terms from Indore parliamentary constituency, will be honored with the country's prestigious Padma Bhushan Award. Mahajan dedicated it to Indore and said, "I have received this award because of the love and affection of the people here. SEven celebrities including singer SP Balasubramaniam (posthumously), former PM of Japan Shinzo Abe and sculptor Sudarshan Sahu. The second highest civilian award will be awarded the Padma Vibhushan. 10 celebrities will be honored with Padma Bhushan and 102 Padmashri including Kapil Tiwari and Bhuri Bai of the state. Former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and music legend SP Balasubrahmanyam have been honoured with the Padma Vibhushan, the second-highest civilian award in India. Former chief minister of Assam Tarun Gogoi and former union minister Ram Vilas Paswan have also been awarded the Padma Bhushan, the third-highest civilian award posthumously. Former Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan has also been conferred the Padma Bhushan. The Padma awards were announced this evening by the government honoring 119 prominent personalities from various fields.
