New Delhi: The issue of reservation in promotions was heard in the apex court on Tuesday. During the hearing, the states appealed for an early hearing on the issue of reservation in promotions. Over the past few years, the issue has been stuck in some states, with thousands of government posts lying vacant and promotions stalled.

The apex court said the final hearing on a reservation in promotions will begin from October 5. The court has asked all states to prepare a list of legal hurdles in their states and submit them to the court in two weeks. In the hearing, the apex court has also refused to withdraw the contempt notice issued against Union Home Secretary AK Bhalla. State that the notice was issued against him for promotion on the basis of 'Ad hoc' in Bihar. The court said it would be discussed later.
