New Delhi: The Supreme Court of India dismissed a request to postpone the NEET-PG examination, which is set to take place on August 11. The plea claimed that the exam centers allocated to some candidates were inconvenient and challenging to reach. The bench, led by Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud and including Justices J B Pardiwala and Manoj Misra, decided against rescheduling the exam. They emphasized that postponing the test for a few would negatively impact the careers of over 200,000 students. Chief Justice Chandrachud commented, “We cannot jeopardize the future of so many students for a handful of complaints. The world isn’t perfect, and our role isn’t to keep rescheduling exams based on requests. There are significant numbers of students and parents affected if we delay.” Senior advocate Sanjay Hegde, representing the petitioners, argued for rescheduling due to logistical issues, pointing out that the test cities were allocated on July 31 and specific centers would only be announced on August 8. He highlighted that there are two exams scheduled on the same day, morning and afternoon, adding to the confusion. Originally planned for June 23, the NEET-PG exam was postponed by the Union Health Ministry due to concerns over irregularities in other competitive exams.
