New Delhi: The Supreme court is hearing a case of taking care of orphaned children from corona and moving towards making arrangements to protect children shelter homes from corona infection. The Supreme Court has taken suo motu cognizance and raised the issue. The Supreme court had directed all states to collect information about orphaned children due to corona and upload them on the portal of NCPCR (National Commission for Child Protection). But the Mamata Government has not done so far. The Supreme court asked the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government in Bengal to comply with its previous order and complete the proceedings so that children who need safety and care are provided with facilities. The Supreme Court asked the West Bengal counsel to ask its officials to collect information about orphans and upload them quickly on the NCPCR portal. The decision was taken in respect of orphaned children after March 2020. The Supreme Court said that all the States have systematically uploaded the information following its order, but there is only one West Bengal Government which has not yet understood the order. The court slammed the Mamata government saying that the government should not make an excuse for confusion as when all the states have complied with the order, how can there be confusion only for Bengal?
