Supreme Court strict regarding PM's security lapse, investigation will be headed by retired SC judge.

New Delhi: The Supreme Court has agreed to set up an independent committee headed by a retired justice of the apex court to probe pm Narendra Modi's security lapses in Ferozepur, Punjab last week. The Supreme Court has proposed to include DGP of Chandigarh, Registrar General of IG National Investigation Agency, Punjab and Haryana High Court and ADGP (Security) of Punjab in the committee. During the hearing of the case, Chief Justice (CJI) NV Ramana said that we have received documents relating to pm's security at 10 am today.

During the hearing, the Central government said that the information about PM Modi's road trip was already conveyed to the Punjab government. In this case, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta briefed the SPG Act on pm Modi's security and also placed before the court the security information provided in the Blue Book. "There is no doubt that there has been a mess in following the entire process," he said. There can be no dispute over this. The fact that there has been a security lapse and negligence cannot be denied. The Blue Book clearly states that security is maintained by the local police under the supervision of the State Director General of Police.'

In the case, Punjab government counsel DS Patwalia said that if the apex court wants, it should constitute a separate inquiry committee in the case. We will cooperate in that committee, but our government and our officials should not be blamed now. He further said that there will be no impartial inquiry by the Central Government into the matter. Please appoint an independent committee (Supreme Court), and give us a fair hearing.
