On this, Civil Judge Senior Division Ravi Kumar Diwakar appointed the court commissioner and ordered a survey of the Gyanvapi campus. The Hindu side claimed that Shivling was found during the survey. Whereas the Muslim side said that it is a fountain. However, the Hindu side's demand for a carbon dating test answering the question of Shivling or fountain was not approved by the court. After this, the Hindu side demanded the sealing of the disputed site and the Sessions Court ordered to seal it. The Muslim side had reached the Supreme Court against this. The Supreme Court had transferred the matter to the District Judge and directed him to hear the adjudication on the maintainability of the suit on a regular basis. The District Judge had also considered the petition seeking worship maintainable.
