New Delhi: A total of 204 players were bid out in the IPL 2022 mega auction. These included 67 foreigners and 137 Indians. 23-year-old Ishan Kishan became the most expensive player in this auction. Ishaan was bought by Mumbai for Rs 15.25 crore. At the same time, The Star of the Under-19 World Cup, Deviled Brevis, was also bought for three crores, but many legendary players did not find a buyer in this auction. It also included Suresh Raina, popularly known as Mr IPL, and Aaron Finch, the captain of the 2021 T20 World Cup-winning Australian team.
A total of 600 players participated in this auction, while all the IPL teams could buy only 217 players in total. In such a situation, 383 players were already scheduled not to be sold. Only 204 players were bid in the auction and 396 players were not sold. Australian captain Aaron Finch's non-sale in it was surprising for the fans. Three months ago, Finch had led the Australian team to a T20 World Cup victory under his captaincy.
Apart from Suresh Raina and Aaron Finch, the unsold star players include former Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan, Australia's Steve Smith, Piyush Chawla, Ishant Sharma, Umesh Yadav, Amit Mishra, Saurabh Tiwary.
