Sushil Chandra becomes new chief election commissioner, may take over on April 13

New Delhi: Sushil Chandra is confirmed as the next Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) of the country. He is currently working on the post of Election Commissioner. In the tradition of appointing the most senior Election Commissioner as Chief Election Commissioner, it is believed that Sushil Chandra will be the new CEC. 

It is being told that his name has also been stamped by the Central Government. Sushil Chandra will take over as the Chief Election Commissioner on Tuesday, 13 April. An order in this regard can be issued at any time. Let us know that earlier Sunil Arora was on the post of Chief Election Commissioner. Now Sushil Chandra will be posted this post. This term will be till 14 May 2022. Chandra was appointed Election Commissioner on 14 February 2019. Now he is going to be a CEC. Before joining the Election Commission, Chandra was the chairman of CBDT.

Election Commission under Sushil Chandra will conduct assembly elections in Manipur, Uttarakhand, Goa, Punjab, and UP. The term of the legislatures of these states is being completed on different dates in March next year. Like, the term of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly ends on May 14 next year.
