Tamil Nadu imposes night curfew, full lockdown on Sunday

Chennai: Due to an increase in COVID-19 incidents, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin announced a night curfew beginning from January 6 and a complete lockdown on Sunday. "A night lockdown will be implemented from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. on January 6th, and a full lockdown will be implemented on Sunday, January 9th, with restaurants operating for takeaways from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.," added the Chief Minister. It has also ordered that physical education classes be suspended in schools.

"For Play School and Kindergarten, there are no courses. Lessons 1 through 9 will only be able to take online classes, but sessions 10 and 12 will have to take physical classes. There would be no training and coaching centres allowed to operate "he stated He also stated that public transportation, including buses, suburban trains, and the Metro, will operate at 50% capacity.

"There isn't any permit for an exhibition or a book fair. Pongal-related parties and gatherings are not permitted. Amusement parks and entertainment are not permitted. Public and cultural gatherings are not permitted. Public transportation, such as buses, suburban trains, and the Metro, will have 50% seating capacity "he stated The beaches would be open solely for walking, according to the Chief Minister.He further stated that devotees will not be permitted admission to places of worship on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday.

"Markets for fish, meat, and vegetables should be decongested. The district government should take steps to open markets in multiple locations. Recommend that central bus stops be decongested by running from multiple depots "he said.
