Tata Elxsi Teams Up with Garuda Aerospace to Develop Drone Technologies

Tata Elxsi, a design and tech services company, has joined hands with drone maker Garuda Aerospace to set up a new centre for designing, engineering, and certifying drones. 

This development aim is to create homegrown drone technologies. This partnership, announced during the Aero India 2025 event in Bangalore, will focus on drones for India's defence, agriculture, and smart city needs, in line with the central government's 'Make in India' scheme.

At the Aero India 2025 event in Bangalore, Tata Elxsi and Garuda Aerospace are showcasing prototypes and operational drones. They are also demonstrating India's progress in building drones that can work on their own.

Tata Elxsi will take charge of designing, testing, and certifying the drone systems. It will use its focus in areas like avionics, communication systems, and energy efficiency. Garuda Aerospace, known for its work in the defence sector, will also  focus on business growth and delivering the drones.

The drones developed from this partnership will serve  many purposes. It includs delivering goods, supporting farming, and helping with intelligence and surveillance tasks.

Jayaraj Rajapandian, Head of Aerospace at Tata Elxsi, said - This partnership is a big step for India's aerospace industry. By advancing Artificianl-Intelligence-powered drones, we are boosting India's defence sector and its independence in aerospace technology.

The Indian defence forces and Border Security Force are expected to benefit from the drones. The project will also help generate new jobs in the aerospace field. Over the next few years, the target is to fully focus,  produce drones and related systems in India, strengthening the India's status position in UAV technology.

Reacting to the development, in the stock market trading,  Tata Elxsi's stock saw a small rise of about 1 percent, with shares trading at Rs 6,161.30.

Aero India 2025 Updates on Defense & Aerospace Technology:

Meanwhile, the Adani Defence and Aerospace, in collaboration with DRDO has launched a Vehicle-Mounted Counter-Drone System at Aero India 2025.  This features a high-energy laser system which can neutralise rogue-drones within a range of over ten  kilo-meters.
