TDP to hold its annual ‘Mahanadu’ conclave in Ongole from May 28

AMARAVATI: The Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Andhra Pradesh's main opposition, is preparing to hold its 'Mahandu,' or annual conclave, in Ongole on May 27 and 28, with party president N. Chandrababu Naidu exhorting party members to be ready for early elections.

On Wednesday, the party began preparing for the event on 80 acres of land near Manduvari Palem in the Prakasam district's Ongole town. It opted to hold 'Mahanadu' outside of Ongole when the state administration refused to allow the event to be held at the Ongole mini-stadium.

The TDP claimed that the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) government purposefully delayed the allotment of the mini-stadium for 'Mahanadu' and then denied permission.

Every year in May, 'Mahanadu' is held to commemorate the birth anniversary of party founder and former chief minister N T Rama Rao.

The party considers the political situation and passes resolutions on a variety of themes during the two-day debates.  This year's annual colloquium will focus on Andhra Pradesh's current "anarchic" situation and its future. During the two-day conclave, TDP national president and former chief minister Chandrababu Naidu has ordered the organising committees to emphasise on uniqueness and party ideological pledges.
